Udhampur 04 September:- The Jammu & Kashmir National Conference Additional Spokesperson Akash Verma expresses deep anguish over the hardships being faced by families whose houses, belongings, and sources of livelihood have been completely devastated due to the recent natural calamities.
In many affected areas, people are struggling to rebuild their lives, while their children remain deprived of regular schooling. In view of this unprecedented situation, Akash Verma Additional Spokesperson of the party has urged the Government and all concerned authorities to take immediate steps to waive off school fees for at least three months in all government and private primary schools across the affected regions. Families who have lost everything cannot be expected to bear the financial burden of school fees when they are struggling to arrange food, shelter, and clothing. He also mentioned that Students have not been able to attend schools for quite some time due to disruptions caused by floods and landslides.
Charging fees during such a period is unjust and insensitive. Education is a fundamental right and must not be denied to any child because of financial distress arising out of a natural disaster. Waiving off fees will act as a small but crucial relief measure for thousands of families who are otherwise unable to send their children back to school.
The Government must also consider supplying free textbooks, uniforms, and stationery, along with launching remedial teaching programmes once schools reopen, so that the loss in academic learning can be compensated. Special attention should be given to psychological and emotional support for children, as they too are victims of this calamity. The Additional Spokesperson appeals to the administration to act with urgency and compassion, keeping in mind the long-term welfare of students.
At this difficult juncture, every possible step must be taken to ease the burden on families and to safeguard the future of children. The party reiterates its commitment to continue raising the voice of the affected people and to ensure that their concerns are addressed on priority.
