AAP’s Sanjay Singh Accuses Govt of Muzzling Dissent in J&K, Calls MLA’s PSA Detention “Unjustified”

Jammu, 10 September:- Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh on Wednesday launched a sharp critique against the Jammu and Kashmir administration, condemning the slapping of the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) on party leader and Doda MLA, Mehraj Malik.

Addressing a press conference here, Singh alleged that the government is deliberately attempting to silence voices that speak up for the people’s rights and development.Singh claimed that the AAP’s rising influence in the region has unsettled the ruling establishment. “We have always placed the demands of local people on top priority, whether it is development, employment, or healthcare. Mehraj Malik only demanded a hospital for his constituency, but instead of addressing that genuine public need, he was booked in false cases,” Singh stated, terming the PSA as completely “unjustified.

He drew parallels to cases against other AAP leaders across the country, alleging a consistent pattern of using fabricated FIRs to muzzle political dissent. “From Delhi to Punjab to Jammu, the story is the same. The AAP chief and other senior leaders have also faced politically motivated cases.

The action against Mehraj Malik is no different; it is a tactic to intimidate us,” he alleged.Asserting that his party would not be cowed down by such measures, Singh vowed to fight the decision through all available democratic and legal avenues.

We will continue our struggle both on the streets and inside the courts. If needed, we will knock at the highest doors of justice for Mehraj Malik. This fight is not just about an individual, but about people’s fundamental right to demand development without fear of reprisal,” he added.

Singh’s remarks, made during his visit to meet local party workers, are expected to intensify the political debate surrounding Malik’s arrest, which has already sparked protests in his constituency demanding his immediate release.
