Jammu, September 18. Aam Aadmi Party leaders and workers held a strong protest at Hari Singh Park today, demanding the release of Mehraj Malik, state president and Doda MLA, who was arrested under the PSA. Senior party leader and Nagrota Assembly constituency in-charge Amit Kapoor delivered a fiery speech, sharply criticizing the government led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
Addressing the protesters, various party leaders, including Amit Kapoor, reiterated their demand for Mehraj Malik’s immediate release. They sharply criticized Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, urging him to stop the drama surrounding the PSA and call a special session of the Assembly to pass a resolution in this regard. He reminded Omar Abdullah to fulfill his election promise that if his party came to power, the PSA would be lifted from the state.Amit Kapoor said that despite coming to power, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has completely failed to fulfill this promise to the people.
He added that other political parties are also protesting the PSA imposed on Mehraj Malik through mere statements, but they are not pressuring the Chief Minister to call a special session of the Assembly. He said that everyone is currently with Mehraj Malik and if he is not released immediately, the protests will intensify in the coming days.Amit Kapoor also clarified that the party is not soliciting any donations in Mehraj Malik’s name.
He added that some people are spreading rumors in this regard, which are completely baseless. During this, senior party leaders Yasir Mattoo, Harpreet Singh, Gurmeet Singh Bagi, Amrik Singh Sasan, Amrik Singh, Mahesh Bakshi, Sandeep Sharma, Yoginder Singh Thakur, Hira Lal, Robin Singh Narayania, Gulzar Hussain, Talwinder Singh, Gagandeep Singh and others also participated enthusiastically and expressed their views.
