AAI Enhances Aviation Safety at Ranchi Airport: Successful Flight Calibration of Critical Navigation Systems
RANCHI, March 20, 2026 – In a significant move to bolster air travel safety and navigational precision, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has successfully completed the mandatory flight calibration of essential landing and navigation aids at Ranchi Airport.
The exercise was conducted by AAI’s specialized Flight Inspection Team to ensure that the Instrument Landing System (ILS), Doppler VHF Omnidirectional Range (DVOR), and Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI) are operating at peak performance.
These systems are vital for guiding aircraft during various phases of flight, particularly during approach and landing in low-visibility conditions, ensuring that pilots receive accurate data for a safe touchdown.
The calibration process was executed entirely in-house by a team of highly trained experts utilizing state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment installed on a dedicated flight inspection aircraft. By synchronizing airborne data with ground-based monitoring systems, the team verified the reliability and accuracy of the airport’s electronic signals against international aviation standards.
This successful operation reaffirms the AAI’s ongoing commitment to maintaining world-class infrastructure and operational excellence across Indian airspace. Through such regular technical audits, the authority continues to provide a robust and secure environment for both domestic and international flight operations.
