AAI and Indian Army Facilitate Critical Passenger Airlift Between Srinagar and Kargil

SRINAGAR | February 9, 2026:-In a significant humanitarian effort under the Sadbhavna Movement, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) successfully facilitated the transit of needy passengers between Kargil and Srinagar.

The operation, conducted at Srinagar International Airport, was designed to assist residents and travelers facing connectivity challenges in the high-altitude region. This mission highlights the critical role of air bridges in maintaining vital links for the people of Ladakh and Jammu & Kashmir during periods of restricted surface movement.

The success of this airlift was the result of seamless, multi-agency coordination involving the Indian Air Force (IAF), the Government of the UT of Jammu & Kashmir, and the Government of the UT of Ladakh.

By pooling resources and logistical expertise, these organizations ensured that the movement of passengers was not only timely but also carried out with the utmost dignity and safety. Such “Sadbhavna” (Goodwill) initiatives are frequently deployed to mitigate the geographical isolation often experienced by the border populations.

The AAI expressed that this collective effort reaffirms a shared commitment to service, solidarity, and regional connectivity, even under the most challenging environmental conditions.

By prioritizing the needs of vulnerable passengers, the operation underscores the enduring partnership between civil authorities and the armed forces in fostering stability and support across the Himalayan belt.
