Nowgam Police Station Blast :- Accidental Blast, Nine Casualties

Srinagar 15 November :- Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat while addressing an Press Conference here in PCR Kashmir in which he disclosed that during investigation of FIR No 162/2025 of PS Nowgam, a huge cache of explosive substances, chemicals and reagents were also recovered from Faridabad on 09th and 10th Nov 2025. The recovery was transported and kept securely in the open area of the PS.

He added that as part of the prescribed procedure, the samples of the recovery had to be forwarded for further forensic and chemical examination.On account of the voluminous recovery, the said process was going on for 2 days by the FSL team.He added that owing to the unstable and sensitive nature of the recovery, it was being handled with utmost caution.

However, during the same, an accidental explosion took place at about 11:20 PM on 14.11.2025 (Yesterday night). Any other speculation into the cause of this incident are unnecessary.

DGP added that In this unfortunate incident, 09 people have lost their lives (1 SIA, 03 FSL, 02 crime wing, 02 revenue officials, 01 tailor who was associated with the team). In addition, 27 Police personnel, 02 revenue officials and 03 civilians have also received injuries. The injured were immediately evacuated to the hospital.

He also added that the building of the Police Station has been severely damaged and adjacent buildings too have been affected. The extent is being ascertained.The cause for this unfortunate incident is being inquired into.
