JAMMU, JULY 27 — A fresh landslide at Dewal in the Udhampur district on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) has disrupted vehicular movement, leaving approximately 1,700 trucks and numerous passenger vehicles stranded between Udhampur and Banihal. Traffic authorities are currently clearing stranded commuters through a single carriageway, giving priority to passenger vehicles while road surface repairs remain underway.
No fresh traffic movement from Jammu towards Srinagar, Doda, Ramban, Patnitop, or vice versa will be permitted until restoration work is completed and the road is declared safe. Commuters are strongly advised to avoid traveling on the highway due to the threat of further landslides and shooting stones. Authorities have urged the public not to pay heed to rumors and instead verify the real-time status of the highway via official social media channels or by contacting the relevant Traffic Control Units (TCUs):
