SRINAGAR, July 24 — The Jammu and Kashmir government, led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, has approved a project worth 15.22 crore rupees to augment the Kathua Grid Station.
The initiative will expand the grid station capacity from 3×50 MVA to 4×50 MVA, alongside executing necessary allied infrastructure work to upgrade the regional electrical network.This power infrastructure project is designed to strengthen the local transmission system and address rising electricity demand across the region.
By expanding capacity, the administration under Chief Minister Omar Abdullah aims to significantly improve supply stability, relieve system overloading, and deliver a more reliable power flow to consumers in Kathua and surrounding locations.
The upgrade reflects ongoing efforts by the administration to modernize power infrastructure across Jammu and Kashmir. Improving the efficiency and reliability of electricity delivery remains a key priority to support broader economic development and everyday power needs in the region.
