SRINAGAR, July 24 — Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo convened a high-level meeting with senior civil administration and police officials to evaluate preparations for the upcoming 80th Independence Day celebrations across Jammu and Kashmir.
The session involved administrative secretaries, divisional commissioners, senior police officers, and heads of various security agencies to coordinate planning for main events in Srinagar and Jammu, as well as local gatherings at district, sub-division, block, and Panchayat levels.
Highlighting the importance of the national holiday, the Chief Secretary instructed all departments to maintain seamless coordination and finalize all logistics early. He called for rich cultural showcases emphasizing local traditions, encouraging active participation from students and youth to foster national pride.
Police and traffic authorities were directed to establish robust security protocols and efficient traffic management plans around event venues to prevent disruption for attendees.To ensure comfort during seasonal weather, instructions were issued to provide adequate drinking water, shaded seating, and medical response units, particularly for participating children.
Additional directives included maintaining high standards of sanitation, continuous power supply, proper venue lighting, and pre-testing public address systems ahead of full-dress rehearsals. Major government buildings and iconic structures will also be illuminated, while district administrations prepare invitations for public representatives, veterans, families of martyrs, and local citizens. Contingents from police forces, paramilitary branches, NCC, NSS, and educational institutions will participate in the ceremonial parades and cultural routines.
