SRINAGAR/JAMMU, July 24, 2026 — Heavy to moderate precipitation lashed multiple parts of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh over the past 24 hours ending at 8:30 a.m. today, with the Jammu region experiencing intense downpours while parts of the Kashmir valley saw moderate rainfall.
In the Jammu Division, Udhampur recorded the highest rainfall in the region at 96.5 mm, followed closely by Batote at 84.2 mm and Ramban at 69.5 mm. Other major areas witnessed substantial precipitation, including Bhaderwah (65.7 mm), Katra (45.1 mm), Kathua (44.8 mm), Banihal (38.3 mm), Doda (35.0 mm), Reasi (27.5 mm), and Kishtwar (27.0 mm). Both Jammu city (25.2 mm) and Jammu Airport (26.0 mm) experienced steady light-to-moderate showers, while Poonch recorded 7.5 mm. Rajouri registered no rainfall, while data for Samba remained unavailable.
In the Kashmir Valley, South Kashmir bore the brunt of the wet spell, led by Verinag with 45.6 mm, Qazigund with 40.2 mm, and Kokernag with 39.3 mm. Kulgam (28.4 mm) and Pahalgam (25.4 mm) also recorded high rainfall totals. Moderate activity was logged across Batkoot (14.5 mm), Khudwani (14.0 mm), Sangam (13.0 mm), Pulwama (12.5 mm), Gulmarg (10.6 mm), Nowgam Handwara (8.5 mm), Shopian (8.0 mm), Babapora (7.0 mm), and Sonamarg (7.0 mm). Pampore received 6.0 mm, Lolab 3.4 mm, Bumhama Kupwara 3.0 mm, Tangmarg 2.4 mm, and Awantipora 2.2 mm. Light drizzles were recorded at Baramulla (1.5 mm), Charar-i-Sharief (1.1 mm), Bandipora (1.0 mm), Budgam (1.0 mm), Srinagar city and Srinagar Airport (0.6 mm each), and Kupwara and Ganderbal (0.5 mm each). Sopore, Asham, and Wular Lake area reported trace or nil rainfall, while data for Anantnag was not available.
In the high-altitude region of Ladakh, Leh registered 4.7 mm of rainfall during the 24-hour period, while figures for Kargil were not available at the time of reporting.
