MENDHAR, JULY 23 — Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology, Environment, and Tribal Affairs Javed Ahmed Rana chaired a high-level review meeting in Mendhar with senior officers from the district administration and key departments to assess ongoing relief, restoration, and rehabilitation efforts following recent flooding. Department officials briefed the Minister on damage to vital public infrastructure, the status of relief operations, and the ongoing damage assessment process. Stressing the need for urgency and seamless inter-departmental coordination, Minister Rana instructed officials to expedite all restoration tasks to restore normalcy quickly, while urging the administration to carefully scrutinize submitted documents so that every eligible family receives prompt compensation and assistance under prescribed norms. Reassuring affected residents, he appealed for their full cooperation in the assessment process and pledged compassionate government support for all genuine cases.
To strengthen infrastructure against future risks, the Minister directed the Irrigation and Flood Control Department to immediately repair breached flood-protection works at vulnerable spots along the Mankote Nallah and other impacted locations. He issued on-the-spot instructions for officials to prepare Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) covering both immediate temporary fixes and long-term, permanent structures to fortify the area’s flood protection. Concluding the review, Javed Rana reiterated that line departments must work in tight alignment to guarantee the swift restoration of essential services and ensure that emergency relief reaches every affected household without delay.
