POONCH, JULY 22, 2026 — Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar and Inspector General of Police (Jammu Division) Bhim Sen Tuti convened a high-level meeting on Tuesday to review comprehensive arrangements for the upcoming Shri Budha Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026. The meeting covered essential logistics, including security, transportation, medical services, registration, accommodation, sanitation, and power and water supply. To ensure a safe and smooth pilgrimage, the Div Com instructed the Health Department to deploy adequate ambulances and medical personnel, while directing road maintenance agencies to immediately repair the stretch from Bhimber Gali to Poonch. Meanwhile, IGP Bhim Sen Tuti mandated foolproof, end-to-end security measures along the entire route, entrusting local police leadership with tight surveillance.
During the session, senior officials also engaged with civil society members and religious leaders to gather feedback, addressing local demands such as the beautification of Eidgah Chowk and Bagh Deodi to enhance Poonch’s appeal to visiting pilgrims. Officials emphasized effective traffic management, advance placement of sanitation facilities, designated langar sites, and strict fire safety protocols at all lodging centers. Key administrators and security officials—including Deputy Commissioner Poonch Ashok Kumar Sharma and DIG Rajouri-Poonch Sandeep Wazir—were in attendance. With the first batch of pilgrims expected on August 17 and the sacred Chhari Yatra scheduled for August 26, the administration also observed a two-minute silence for recent flash flood victims and urged the public to stay cautious amid ongoing rain advisories.
