KATRA July 22, 2026 — Persistent adverse weather conditions and heavy torrential rainfall across the region forced authorities to keep the sacred Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra suspended for the fourth consecutive day on Wednesday.
The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB), alongside local administration, took the precautionary measure to halt the pilgrimage to ensure the safety and security of all devotees amid deteriorating weather conditions in Jammu and Kashmir.
As continuous downpours lashed Katra, the base camp town presented a deserted look with usually bustling main intersections remaining largely empty. While many disappointed pilgrims have reportedly returned home without performing the pilgrimage, several others continue to wait out the storm in Katra, eagerly anticipating the resumption of the yatra once the weather improves.
