RAJOURI/POONCH, JULY 21 — Following severe heavy rainfall and flash floods across the twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch, Managing Director of Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL), Gurpal Singh, conducted a comprehensive field inspection to evaluate the extent of structural damage and accelerate grid recovery efforts. Accompanied by Chief Engineer Arshad Hussain Reshi and key divisional executives, the Managing Director visited high-damage zones—including the 33 KV Doongi–Keri site, Dhangri, Badala Mang, Panjpeer, Salani Bridge, and Bela Bus Stand—where floodwaters compromised multiple 33 KV and 11 KV networks, dedicated PHE feeders, and distribution transformers.
To prevent extended blackouts, interim power re-routing was established via existing networks while field crews work on war-footing permanent repairs. The inspection extended through Thanamandi and flood-hit pockets of Poonch—such as Mankote, Potha, Mehrote, and Lassana—where severe damage to JKPTCL’s 132 KV transmission tower line disrupted regional supply. During a strategy and review meeting in Surankote, Singh authorized the immediate deployment of reserved emergency stock from local hubs, including the NTPC Store in Poonch, ordering round-the-clock monitoring and the full mobilization of ACSR conductors, utility poles, and transformers to restore power to all affected consumers in the shortest possible timeframe.
