REASI, July 21, 2026 — In a major crackdown under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, Reasi Police have detained four habitual drug peddlers under the stringent Prevention of Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT NDPS) Act, 1988, and lodged them in central and district jails.
The accused—identified as Manjeet Kaur (resident of Amritsar, presently Nagrota), Sanjana (resident of Katra), Rakesh Kumar (resident of Nagrota), and Pawan Singh (resident of Reasi)—were repeat offenders facing multiple narcotics charges at the Katra Police Station. Despite prior legal proceedings, their continued involvement in illicit drug trafficking posed a severe threat to public safety and social order.
Recognizing their persistent criminal activities, Reasi Police compiled comprehensive dossiers that were submitted through the District Police Office to the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, resulting in formal detention orders issued on July 18, 2026. Following their apprehension, Manjeet Kaur and Sanjana were transferred to District Jail Udhampur, while Rakesh Kumar and Pawan Singh were lodged in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal, Jammu. Reasi Police reaffirmed their zero-tolerance stance against narcotics and urged the public to support the ongoing anti-drug campaign to help build a safer, drug-free community.
