Jammu July 20,2026 :- In the wake of devastating flash floods, landslides, and torrential rain-related calamities that have severely ravaged the twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah announced an immediate ex gratia relief package of ₹6 lakh for the next of kin of each deceased. Acknowledging that no monetary assistance can ever truly heal the profound and tragic loss of human life, the Chief Minister posted on social media platform X to assure grieving families of the government’s steadfast support during this crisis.
The financial package is systematically structured to combine standard disaster relief with direct executive support. A substantial chunk of ₹4 lakh is being disbursed through the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF), while an additional top-up of ₹2 lakh will be pulled directly from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF). This combined financial injection aims to alleviate immediate burdens as administrative field teams simultaneously clear blocked roadways, restore shattered communication lines, and establish emergency relief operations across the heavily hit region.
