KATHUA JULY 20,2026 — In a massive enforcement drive aligned with the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan, the District Administration and Kathua Police executed a joint operation to demolish two illegal residential houses and a cowshed belonging to notorious, chronic drug peddlers in Sapral Pain, located in the Marheen Tehsil of Kathua district.
The demolished structures, valued at an estimated market price of approximately ₹3.5 crores, were found to be constructed unlawfully on encroached state land. The targeted properties belonged to two brothers identified as Gulzar (alias Dau) and Farman Ali, both sons of Ashiq Ali and residents of Sapral Pain. Authorities confirmed that both individuals are repeat offenders named in multiple First Information Reports (FIRs) tied directly to large-scale drug trafficking and associated criminal activities in the region.
Executed in the direct presence of senior civil and police administration officials, this demolition serves as a critical milestone in the government’s aggressive campaign against the drug menace. Officials stated that the action aims to send an uncompromising message to syndicates: the administration will not allow individuals involved in narcotics trafficking to secure or enjoy the proceeds of crime under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, particularly through illegal constructions on government land.
