KISHTWAR, JULY 13, 2026: In anticipation of the upcoming Shri Machail Mata Yatra, the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) for the Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban (DKR) Range, Sargun Shukla-IPS, conducted a comprehensive security assessment today. Accompanied by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kishtwar, Naresh Singh-JKPS, the DIGP visited the holy shrine of Shri Chandi Mata Machail to evaluate on-ground safety measures, inspect critical access points, examine surveillance frameworks, and streamline crowd management strategies.
Following the shrine inspection, a high-level security meeting was convened at the District Police Lines (DPL) Kishtwar. During this briefing, SSP Kishtwar presented a detailed PowerPoint breakdown of the pilgrimage’s deployment plan, focusing heavily on route security, the layout of Yatra lodgement centers, the identification of communication shadow areas, langar points, and the strategic positioning of police assistance booths and Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs).
Chairing the review, DIGP Shukla emphasized the absolute necessity of maintaining high alertness and seamless operational coordination among all active security agencies to ensure a secure, incident-free environment for the thousands of arriving devotees.
She issued strict directives to the officers to strengthen ground-level intelligence mechanisms and fortify deployments in vulnerable, high-altitude sectors along the pilgrimage route. Stressing a policy of zero tolerance toward any potential lapses, the DIGP ordered regular equipment checks, proactive policing, and thorough daily briefings for all deployed personnel.
Commending the Kishtwar District Police for their meticulous preparation and professional commitment, Ms. Shukla expressed full confidence that the collaborative framework established will guarantee a peaceful and successful execution of this year’s Shri Mata Machail Yatra.
