RAMBAN, JULY 13, 2026 — Showing remarkable agility and coordination, the Ramban district administration, under the direct supervision of Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Alyas Khan and in close collaboration with the Police Department, successfully executed a swift rescue and relief operation following a road mishap involving a Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra convoy early Monday morning. The incident occurred near the Chanderkote Langar site when the last vehicle of a Pahalgam-bound convoy lost control and collided with several stationary vehicles, causing damage to three automobiles and inflicting minor injuries on 18 pilgrims. Because senior officials—including DC Mohammad Alyas Khan, SSP Ramban Arun Gupta, SSP NHW Raja Adil Hamid, and ADC Varunjeet Singh Charak—were already stationed in the area monitoring Yatra arrangements, emergency protocols were activated instantly. The officers personally overseen the immediate evacuation of all injured Yatris to District Hospital Ramban, where they received rapid, high-quality medical attention.
To ensure the highest standard of care, Deputy Commissioner Khan visited the hospital to monitor treatment, interact with the injured pilgrims, and instruct the Chief Medical Officer and medical staff to provide comprehensive assistance. Thanks to the timely intervention, all 18 pilgrims were treated for their minor injuries, safely discharged, and provided with alternative transportation by the district administration to seamlessly resume their journey to the Holy Cave Shrine. This efficient, well-coordinated response from the local administration, police force, and healthcare teams underscored their steadfast commitment to ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of all Amarnath Yatra pilgrims.
