SRINAGAR, JULY 13, 2026: In a bid to ensure top-notch medical facilities for pilgrims, the Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir, Anshul Garg, visited the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) in Soura on Monday. The high-level visit was aimed at personally reviewing the healthcare and treatment protocols being provided to Shri Amarnath Ji Yatris who have been admitted to the hospital with various health complications. During his inspection, Garg interacted closely with the recovering yatris to enquire about their well-being and the quality of attention they were receiving. He reassured the patients of the administration’s absolute commitment to their health, promising full support and seamless assistance throughout their recovery period.
To maintain strict standards of patient care, the Divisional Commissioner instructed senior doctors and the hospital administration to closely monitor treatment protocols and guarantee the round-the-clock availability of essential medical facilities. Director of SKIMS, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Ashraf Ganie, briefed the commissioner, noting that a dedicated ward with exclusive medical and support staff has been established specifically for the specialized care of the pilgrims. Dr. Ganie revealed that SKIMS has treated 44 yatris so far during this pilgrimage season, with 28 already successfully discharged following their recovery. The review meeting and inspection were also attended by the Medical Superintendent of SKIMS, the Assistant Commissioner Central, and other senior medical officials.
