LEH, LADAKH — July 13, 2026 :- Demonstrating unparalleled endurance and an indomitable spirit, the Indian Army achieved a spectacular victory at the world’s highest-altitude ultra marathon. Major Deepak Kumar of the 153 General Hospital secured the coveted first position in the grueling 70-kilometer Umling La Challenge.
Alongside him, Captain Sivaguru Vellasamy S of the 4 Ladakh Scouts also successfully conquered the punishing high-altitude course. Organized by the Sarmang Society and Sarmang Adventure Tours as part of the prestigious Summit or Surrender race series, the event tested the absolute limits of human survival and fitness.
