JAMMU, July 13, 2026: The Jammu Rural Police arrested two inter-district drug smugglers and recovered a heroin-like substance during a vehicle check at the Ban Toll Plaza in Nagrota.
A police team from the Nagrota police station intercepted a luxury sedan moving under suspicious circumstances during the intervening night of July 12 and 13. A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the recovery of the narcotic substance, locally known as chitta, from the occupants.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Salman Khan and Sunil Kumar, both residents of Udhampur. Following the recovery, the police arrested both men on the spot and seized the luxury vehicle.
The police have registered a case under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act at the Nagrota police station. An investigation is underway to uncover the forward and backward linkages of the narcotics network and to identify other individuals involved in the racket.
The operation is part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Abhiyaan anti-drug campaign.
