AMRITSAR, JULY 12, 2026 — In a powerful display of patriotism and remembrance, a dedicated group of riders from Amritsar recently joined forces with the Indian Army’s Vajra Warriors to retrace a historic route, honoring the brave soldiers who fought in the 1971 Indo-Pak War. The commemorative motorcycle expedition culminated at the historic Pul Kanjri War Memorial, a site dedicated to preserving the legacy of India’s military heroes.
The Pul Kanjri War Memorial stands as an enduring symbol of courage, specifically marking the valor of the 2 SIKH regiment. During the 1971 conflict, these indomitable infantrymen launched a fierce and determined counter-offensive to successfully recapture the strategic outpost of Pul Kanjri from enemy forces. The memorial honors the supreme sacrifice of ten bravehearts who laid down their lives for the nation during this brutal battle.
Among those immortalized at the site is Lance Naik Shangara Singh, who was posthumously awarded the Maha Vir Chakra (MVC)—India’s second-highest wartime gallantry medal—for his extraordinary bravery and leadership under fire. The event served as a poignant reminder that the legacy of these martyrs remains an eternal source of national pride and inspiration for future generations.
