KATHUA, JULY 11 — In a major boost to the region’s legal framework, the Acting Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, Justice Sanjeev Kumar, spearheaded two major infrastructure milestones in the Kathua district today. Justice Kumar officially laid the foundation stone for a brand-new Court Complex at Mahanpur, a ceremony attended by key administrative and legal figures including Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma, Senior Superintendent of Police Mohita Sharma, and various judicial officers. Following this event, the Acting Chief Justice traveled to Basohli to inaugurate its newly constructed Court Complex. This inaugural ceremony featured the unveiling of a commemorative plaque and a thorough facility inspection, attended by District Kathua Administrative Judge, Justice Rajnesh Oswal, alongside local civil administration leaders and Bar Association members.

Reflecting on his deep personal connection to the region as a “son of the soil,” he expressed immense satisfaction in driving these essential infrastructure developments to ensure efficient and effective justice delivery for his home district. Justice Kumar credited the successful completion of these projects to the robust cooperation between local citizens, the Kathua civil administration, and the Registrar General of the High Court. Echoing these sentiments, Justice Rajnesh Oswal praised the Acting Chief Justice’s vision, highlighting a remarkable two-year period of growth that has seen the completion of court complexes in Kathua, Hiranagar, and Basohli, alongside new lawyers’ chambers and residential quarters. Legal leaders, including Principal District and Sessions Judge Jatinder Singh Jamwal and Basohli Bar Association President Shub Kumar, expressed profound gratitude for these modern facilities, noting they will significantly enhance access to justice for local litigants and legal professionals alike.
