Amritsar police arrest two suspects linked to foreign handlers and recover hand grenades

AMRITSAR, JUNE 9, 2026 :- The Amritsar Rural Police, in a joint operation with a central agency, arrested two individuals connected to cross-border handlers. During the operation, security forces recovered two hand grenades from the possession of the suspects, marking a major breakthrough in regional counter-terrorism efforts.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested individuals were in direct contact with foreign-based handlers and were acting on their instructions. Law enforcement officials stated that the recovery of the hand grenades indicates a larger conspiracy aimed at disturbing peace and public order across Punjab.The Gharinda police station has registered a first information report under relevant sections of the law.

Investigations are ongoing to establish forward and backward linkages, uncover the financial trail, and identify other associates involved in the network. The Punjab Police reiterated its commitment to dismantling terror networks and ensuring public safety across the state.
