Divisional Commissioner and IGP Jammu review Shri Amarnath Yatra arrangements in Ramban

RAMBAN, JUNE 08: Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar and Inspector General of Police Jammu Zone Bhim Sen Tuti visited Ramban district today to review preparations for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026.

The duo evaluated the arrangements for the annual pilgrimage and assessed the progress of the National Highway 44 four-laning project stretching from Nashri to Banihal. The high-level meeting and inspection were attended by the DIG DKR Range, Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mohammad Alyas Khan, SSP Ramban, SSP Traffic NHW, ADC Ramban, Project Director NHAI, SDM Banihal, SDM Ramsoo, alongside officials from the district administration, Army, CRPF, SDRF, and police.

During the visit, Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mohammad Alyas Khan provided a comprehensive briefing on the safety, convenience, and welfare measures established for the pilgrims. Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar inspected vital facilities at Yatri Niwas Chanderkote, focusing on accommodation, sanitation, drinking water, electricity, medical services, and security.

He also checked the langar sites at Chanderkote, Yatra Camp Lamber, and other designated points along the pilgrimage route, issuing strict instructions to all stakeholder departments to complete all remaining works and set up essential facilities before June 20, 2026.Specific directives were issued to various departments to ensure seamless operations during the yatra.

The Divisional Commissioner ordered the installation of adequate toilet units, robust waste management, uninterrupted power supply with generator backups by JPDCL, and sufficient water storage by the Jal Shakti Department. The SDRF, Fire and Emergency Services, and security agencies were told to remain fully prepared with emergency equipment and response teams.

Additionally, the Project Director of NHAI was directed to expedite ongoing infrastructure works, including the Digdool–Panthyal tunnel stretch and Magarkote–Ramsoo Viaduct, to ensure smooth road connectivity before the yatra begins.

The Divisional Commissioner and the IGP Jammu concluded by holding detailed security discussions with the Army, CRPF, and police, emphasizing close coordination and instructing the local administration to personally monitor all arrangements.
