Rafiabad’s Young Taekwondo Stars Honoured for International Gold Triumph; Locals Hail Indian Army’s Youth Empowerment Initiative

Srinagar June 06,2026 :- In a proud celebration of sporting excellence and youth empowerment, the Civil Society and the Indian Army jointly organised a grand felicitation ceremony at Yuva Dangiwacha to honour the outstanding achievers of the Warrior Taekwondo Academy, who won gold medals at the India Open International Taekwondo Championship held in Srinagar.

The event celebrated the grit, discipline and sportsmanship of young athletes who have brought pride to the Rafiabad-Sopore belt of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district through their remarkable performances in martial arts. The initiative highlighted the growing sporting talent emerging from the region and encouraged youth to pursue excellence through discipline and dedication.

The ceremony was graced by the Commander 7 Sector RR, as the Chief Guest and was attended by prominent civil dignitaries, senior administrative officials, coaches and the proud parents of the award-winning players.The programme began with a spectacular Taekwondo demonstration by the trainees of the Warrior Taekwondo Academy.

Displaying exceptional skill, agility and mental focus, the young martial artists impressed the audience with their synchronized performances and unwavering determination, earning thunderous applause.

The highlight of the event was the felicitation of six young athletes who secured gold medals in their respective categories at the India Open International Taekwondo Championship- Abrar Ashraf – Junior, Under 48 kg, Dangiwacha, Rafiabad.- Arman Ali – Cadet, Under 49 kg, Dangiwacha, Rafiabad.- Haris Zahoor – Cadet, Under 37 kg, Gundkarimkhan, Watergam.- Mohammad Azhar – Sub-Junior, Under 35 kg, Dogripora, Rafiabad.- Farhat Firdous – Junior Girls, Under 68 kg, Waripora, Rafiabad.- Aleena Hassan – Cadet Girls, Under 44 kg, Rawoocha, Rafiabad.

Addressing the gathering, the Commander of 7 Sector RR congratulated the young champions for their remarkable achievements and urged them to continue striving for excellence. He emphasized that sports serve as a powerful medium for channelising the energy of youth, fostering discipline, confidence, teamwork and a spirit of healthy competition.

The event concluded on a positive note, with locals of Rafiabad expressing gratitude to the Indian Army for organising such inspiring programmes in the remote areas of the region. Residents said these initiatives provide a valuable platform for nurturing talent, motivating young people to pursue sports and strengthening the culture of excellence at the grassroots level.
