Reasi Police detains habitual bovine smuggler under Public Safety Act to maintain public order
REASI, May 26, 2026 — In a major enforcement action aimed at maintaining public order and communal harmony, the Reasi Police has detained a habitual bovine smuggler under the provisions of the Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety Act. The accused, Mohd Shakoor, a resident of Patta Kheral in Reasi district, was detained following a formal order issued by the District Magistrate Reasi.
Law enforcement officials executed the warrant successfully today and subsequently shifted the detainee to the District Jail Rajouri for confinement.According to police records, the accused was repeatedly involved in illegal bovine smuggling operations and has five separate cases registered against him at the Reasi Police Station spanning from 2021 to 2025.
Despite being convicted in multiple cases earlier, investigative reports revealed that he continued his illegal activities and was actively trying to establish a broader network to transport livestock illegally.
On the basis of a detailed dossier prepared by the Reasi Police demonstrating that his actions were harmful to public peace, the competent authority approved the preventive detention to curb further anti-social activities in the district.
