Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha confirms all tourists are safe after successful Gulmarg Gondola rescue operation

SRINAGAR, May 25, 2026 :- Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha confirmed that all tourists are completely safe following the mid-air cable car crisis in Gulmarg and directed senior officials to ensure every necessary support is provided to the rescued individuals.

The statement came after a highly complex multi-agency rescue operation successfully evacuated 300 tourists who were left stranded in the sky due to a sudden technical failure.

The Lieutenant Governor stated that the entire nation stands united in applauding the extraordinary bravery, valor, and remarkable skill demonstrated by the responding teams during the high-stakes mission.

The emergency response was initiated promptly as the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, State Disaster Response Force, National Disaster Response Force, along with the District Commissioner and Senior Superintendents of Police, moved swiftly to the site.

The joint teams launched a coordinated, six-hour-long extraction operation to systematically safely retrieve all passengers trapped across 65 suspended cable cars. The successful completion of the rescue under challenging conditions highlighted the high level of operational readiness and synergy between the military, police, and civil administration.
