Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary oversees Gulmarg Gondola rescue operation on site

SRINAGAR, May 25, 2026 — On the direct instructions of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary arrived in Gulmarg today to personally oversee the ongoing rescue operation following the temporary stoppage of the Gondola cable car service due to a technical fault.

Showing the administration’s top-level commitment to public safety, the Deputy Chief Minister was joined on site by the Member of Legislative Assembly, Farooq Ahmed Shah, to closely monitor the evacuation efforts and coordinate between various emergency response teams on the ground.

The synchronized efforts of the administration have already yielded significant progress, with the majority of the stranded cable car cabins successfully cleared and the passengers brought to safety.

All concerned disaster management, police, and technical agencies remain fully engaged in the operation, leaving no stone unturned to ensure the swift and safe evacuation of the remaining stranded tourists.

The government reiterated that the entire situation is being handled with absolute precision, ensuring that all safety protocols are strictly followed, and reassured the public that there is absolutely no cause for panic.
