CM Omar Abdullah monitors Gulmarg Gondola rescue operation after technical snag strands tourists
SRINAGAR, May 25, 2026 — The Jammu and Kashmir government is closely monitoring the situation at the Gulmarg Gondola after the cable car service was temporarily suspended due to a technical fault on Monday.
Operations for both phases of the popular tourist attraction were halted immediately after the malfunction was detected, activating standard safety protocols.
The Office of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah issued a statement on X confirming that all cable car cabins remain fully intact and structurally secure.
Trained rescue teams, including personnel from the State Disaster Response Force and the National Disaster Response Force, are actively working on the ground to safely evacuate all stranded tourists.
The administration has assured the public and families of the visitors that the ongoing rescue operations are being executed systematically.
According to the updates shared by the Chief Minister’s office, the entire situation is completely under control, and there is absolutely no cause for panic. Technical teams are also simultaneously working to diagnose the glitch and restore the cable car operations as soon as the stranded passengers are brought to safety.
