JMC launches special sanitation drive at Deeli Pond
JAMMU, MAY 23 — As part of the ongoing Clean Jammu Green Jammu campaign, the Health and Sanitation Wing of the Jammu Municipal Corporation conducted a special sanitation drive at the Deeli Pond area in Ward 55 today.
The initiative focused on upgrading sanitation standards, conserving regional water bodies, and fostering environmental sustainability. Sanitation workers carried out extensive cleaning operations inside the pond and its surrounding areas, removing weeds, silt, and accumulated waste, which was subsequently transported to Bandurakh for composting.
The drive also served to educate local residents on the importance of keeping water bodies clean and preventing waste dumping in public spaces.Commissioner Devansh Yadav visited the site to review the progress and boost the morale of the sanitation workers, praising their dedication to maintaining city hygiene.
Yadav issued on-the-spot directives to corporation officers to ensure the regular maintenance and cleaning of all public ponds and spaces. Emphasizing the upcoming Swachh Survekshan 2025-26, the Commissioner urged all officials and field functionaries to intensify waste management, drain desilting, and cleanliness activities across all wards to meet high municipal standards.
Reiterating the commitment of the civic body to the goals of the Swachh Bharat Mission, the Commissioner called on citizens to actively support the corporation by adopting proper waste disposal habits and avoiding littering.
Several senior officials participated in the event, including Joint Commissioner Abdul Sattar, Health Officer Shahid Hussain, and various sanitation supervisors. The Jammu Municipal Corporation confirmed that similar cleanliness drives will continue across different parts of the city to safeguard public health and protect the local environment.
