Prominent political leaders join National Conference in Udhampur
UDHAMPUR, May 23 — Several prominent political and social personalities formally joined the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference during an organizational meeting held in Udhampur on Saturday.
The new members were welcomed into the party fold by Nasir Aslam Wani, Advisor to the Chief Minister, during a brief halt at the residence of District President Sunil Verma while traveling from Jammu to Srinagar. Among those who joined the party were Jatinder Prashar from Block Ghordi and Inder Parkash Mehra, a well-known social and political figure from Udhampur city.
Wani expressed confidence that their entry would significantly strengthen the party’s presence in the region.The event served as a platform for an extensive organizational review, where Wani interacted with local party leaders, office bearers, and grassroots workers to discuss strategies for enhancing public outreach across the district.
Addressing the gathering, Wani highlighted the people-centric initiatives and welfare policies being implemented by the Omar Abdullah-led government. He emphasized the administration’s commitment to improving infrastructure, ensuring transparent governance, and restoring public confidence through an accountable administration that addresses regional aspirations equitably.
Wani urged party workers to stay deeply connected with the masses and actively assist in resolving local grievances.District President Sunil Verma expressed appreciation for the government’s developmental focus and stated that the public maintains immense faith in the leadership of the National Conference.
Other senior party representatives, including Additional Spokesperson Akash Verma and Senior Vice President Javed Iqbal, participated in discussions regarding upcoming organizational programs.
The meeting concluded with senior leaders, including Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, Abid Magray, Gurmeet Singh, Amarnath, Abdul Rashid, and Om Parkash, reaffirming their dedication to expanding the party’s footprint and serving the people of Udhampur effectively.
