People of Udhampur deprived of basic facilities: Pawan Khajuria

UDHAMPUR MAY 23 , 2026 :- An important meeting was organized in the Panada area of Majalta under the chairmanship of Sarpanch Rajesh Sharma regarding the continuously increasing public problems in Udhampur.

As per the Statement Issued by Senior leader Pawan Khajuria stated that he , along with a large number of prominent local residents and social activists, attended the meeting. Serious concern was expressed over the continuously deteriorating basic facilities in Udhampur.

Addressing the meeting, Pawan Khajuria said that the undeclared power cuts in Udhampur have completely affected the lives of the common people. Due to long hours of electricity outages during the intense summer heat, students, traders, farmers, and ordinary families are facing severe difficulties. He said that despite the government’s tall claims, the power supply system appears to have completely collapsed at the ground level.
He also expressed concern over the water crisis and said that people in several rural and urban areas are struggling even for drinking water. Due to departmental negligence and administrative indifference, the common public is facing hardships every day, while the responsible officials remain confined only to paperwork and statistics.

The issue of damaged and neglected roads was also strongly raised during the meeting. Speakers said that many roads in the district have been in miserable condition for years. Due to potholes and incomplete construction work at various places, traveling has become risky for the public. In rural areas, the situation becomes so bad during the rainy season that people even find it difficult to step out of their homes. Claims of spending crores of rupees are made, but development is nowhere visible on the ground.
There was also strong resentment among the youth regarding unemployment. It was stated in the meeting that the younger generation is continuously struggling in search of jobs, but the government and public representatives have no concrete policy regarding the future of the youth. Instead of providing employment, the youth are being misled through announcements and speeches.

Pawan Khajuria said that today the local people feel cheated. The public representatives whom the people elected and sent to the Assembly as their voice are now confined only to power and positions. They seem to have no concern for the problems of the people. Criticizing some representatives, he said that they remain limited only to their CDF and are busy projecting small works as major achievements. Beyond the CDF as well, many public works can be undertaken, but perhaps they either do not know this or deliberately ignore it, while the basic problems of the people continue to become more serious.

Those present in the meeting, including Rajesh Sarpanch, Balwant Rai, Akhil Parashar, Bishan Dass, Govind Ram Master, Captain Gopal Singh, Rakesh Sharma, Krishan Lal, Sarpanch Babu Ram, Raju Sarpanch, Makkhan Sharma, Rattan Lal Verma, Balwan Thakur, Pawan, Subedar Sukhdev, Vijay Panku and others, unanimously said that if problems such as electricity, water, roads, and unemployment are not resolved soon, people from all four Assembly constituencies of the district will be forced to launch a major public movement by coming on the streets.
The people warned that the public will no longer remain silent and will fight democratically for their rights.
In the meeting, it was also demanded that the administration and the government immediately take effective steps to address these serious public issues; otherwise, in the coming time, Udhampur may become the center of widespread public anger and agitation.
