Jammu and Kashmir weather update predicts heat wave conditions and intermittent rain showers
SRINAGAR, May 23, 2026:- The Meteorological Centre in Srinagar has issued a fresh weather update and advisory for Jammu and Kashmir, predicting a mix of hot weather and intermittent rain showers over the coming week.
According to the forecast, the region will experience generally dry weather in the forenoon from May 23 to May 25, with brief showers and gusty winds likely at scattered places toward the late afternoon hours. This will be followed by generally hot and dry weather on May 26 and May 27.
Conditions are expected to change on May 28 and May 29, bringing generally cloudy skies along with one or two spells of rain, thundershowers, and gusty winds across scattered to fairly widespread areas. From May 30 to June 2, the weather will remain partly cloudy with brief spells of rain or thundershowers at a few places during the late afternoon.
The meteorological department has also issued an advisory warning of potential thunder, lightning, hailstorms, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour at isolated locations.
Furthermore, hot and humid conditions are expected across many parts of the Jammu division, with specific pockets likely to experience distinct heat wave conditions between May 25 and May 27.
