Indian Air Force evacuates NCC cadets from Imphal due to security situation

IMPHAL, May 23, 2026The Indian Air Force has undertaken an emergency evacuation of 132 National Cadet Corps cadets who were attending the North East Region Flying Camp in Imphal from May 11 to May 20, 2026.

The cadets are being moved to Guwahati and Jorhat by air due to the prevailing security situation and subsequent restrictions on road movement in the area.

The evacuation operation was planned by the NCC North East Region Directorate in consultation with the Headquarters Directorate General of NCC and coordinated alongside the Headquarters Eastern Air Command.

This swift action ensured that the cadets safely reached their destinations in time to appear for their upcoming examinations, providing relief to their families.

The cadets expressed gratitude for the timely assistance, while appreciation was also extended to the Ministry of Defence and the Indian Air Force for their prompt response and commitment to the safety of the youth.
