Assam Rifles recovers weapons and destroys IEDs in Manipur joint operation

TENNOUPAL, May 23, 2026:- Assam Rifles, in coordination with the Bomb Disposal Team, Explosive Detection Dog Squad, and Moreh Police, conducted a successful joint search operation on May 20, 2026, at Border Pillar 72–73 near T. Bongmol Village in the Tengnoupal District of Manipur.

During the operation, the team recovered a Self-Loading Rifle, a 9 mm pistol along with its magazine, four radio sets, a charger, and four Improvised Explosive Devices.The recovered IEDs were safely destroyed in situ, successfully averting a major threat to the local population and security forces.

This operation has dealt a significant setback to insurgent elements operating in the area. The successful recovery underscores the unwavering commitment of Assam Rifles toward maintaining peace, security, and stability along the border region.
