Indian Army and Sikkim runners complete high-altitude marathon at Dongkya La

SUKNA, May 23, 2026:- Ultra runners from the Indian Army and the Sikkim Runner completed a grueling four-day, 250-kilometer high-altitude run that culminated at Dongkya La Pass, situated at an altitude of 18,200 feet.

The extensive run was organized to mark 50 years of statehood for Sikkim.The challenging route tested the participants as it passed through difficult mountainous terrain, steep gradients, and harsh weather conditions including rain and extreme cold.

The successful event highlighted the physical endurance and coordination of the participants while underscoring the close partnership between the Indian Army, the civil administration, and the people of Sikkim.
