World Biodiversity Day: Indian Army’s Fire and Fury Corps Leads Plantation Drive in Tangtse
TANGTSE, LADAKH — May 22, 2026: In a significant effort to promote environmental conservation, the Fire and Fury Corps of the Indian Army organized a comprehensive biodiversity awareness and plantation drive along the Tsoltak–Chumik Zangpo axis in Tangtse to mark World Biodiversity Day.
Under the aegis of Operation Sadbhavana, the initiative successfully drew enthusiastic participation from nearly 200 local students, 45 teachers, and numerous residents, all uniting to champion the cause of ecological balance. The day’s events featured educational lectures on biodiversity, extensive tree plantation drives, and a local route-cleaning campaign, all designed to foster deep-rooted environmental consciousness and a sense of community responsibility among the region’s youth.
This impactful event further underscores the Indian Army’s enduring commitment to environmental protection and proactive community engagement in the border regions.
