Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani interacts with Jammu trade bodies to address industrial challenges
JAMMU, May 21, 2026 — Advisor to the Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani, held a comprehensive interactive session with representatives of industrial and trade associations from Jammu province today to discuss issues impacting the industrial sector across Jammu and Kashmir.
During the meeting, business leaders highlighted the current lack of a fiscal package for local industries and emphasized the urgent need for sustained policy support to strengthen the regional business ecosystem.
The associations expressed optimism that upcoming initiatives, such as the logistics policy and public procurement policy currently being formulated, will resolve many operational challenges, while also requesting auto-renewal mechanisms for green category units to improve the ease of doing business.
The trade representatives raised specific administrative issues, including the extension of registrations for units allotted land at the Balole Industrial Estate, the continuation of turnover incentives, and the resolution of pending registrations under the New Central Sector Scheme with the central government.
In addition to traditional sectors, the associations advocated for leveraging artificial intelligence, expanding e-commerce, and prioritizing local industries such as the traditional woolen and agro-based sectors. They also suggested developing dedicated routes to promote trekking tourism in the region.
Addressing the forum, the Advisor reaffirmed the government’s commitment to boosting industrial viability and competitiveness, emphasizing that industrial growth must actively translate into local employment generation.Following the trade meeting, the Advisor received several public delegations and individuals at the Civil Secretariat in Jammu to address various community grievances.
A delegation from the Non-Teaching Employees Union of the University of Jammu raised service-related matters, while the All J&K Transport Welfare Association submitted demands concerning the transport sector. Additionally, former chamber president Rakesh Gupta discussed necessary amendments to the Jammu and Kashmir Society Act, and a community delegation from Gujjar Nagar requested the expedited release of relief compensation for families affected by last year’s floods.
The Advisor assured all visiting groups that their genuine demands would be reviewed and addressed by the concerned departments in a time-bound manner.The industrial interaction was attended by several senior administrative officers and prominent business leaders, including Managing Director of J&K SIDCO and SICOP Mohammad Shahid Saleem Dar, Director of Industries and Commerce Jammu Arun Manhas, and President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Jammu Arun Gupta.
Other key participants included National Chairman of the D2C Industry Association M. A. Alim, Vice President of CII Sidhant Choudhary, Chairman of ICC Rahul Sahai, President of ASSOCHAM Manik Batra, Chairman President of PHDCCI Rakesh Wazir, and Chairman of FICCI FLO Varsha Bansal.
