CISF partners with IIT Madras for critical cyber security training programme

CHENNAI, May 21, 2026 — The Central Industrial Security Force signed a memorandum of understanding with the IITM Pravartak Technologies Foundation at IIT Madras yesterday to launch a specialized six-week cyber security training initiative.

Named the Critical Information Infrastructure Protection programme, the course is designed to substantially upgrade the security force’s digital defense capabilities.

The agreement was formally executed by M. J. Shankar Raman, CEO of IITM Pravartak, and S. R. Saravanan, IPS, IG of the South Sector in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

The signing ceremony was attended by key representatives from both organizations, including Karanbir Singh Brar, Mangala Sunder Krishnan, Balamurali Shankar, G. Veeraraghavan, and Vasan from IITM Pravartak, alongside senior security officials Ajay Kumar Khandelwal, Alok Kumar, Sarvesh Singh, and S. K. Prasad.This strategic partnership focuses on equipping personnel with advanced skills in both offensive and defensive cyber security, digital forensics, cyber law, and the specialized protection of vital data networks.

Through this intensive curriculum, the collaboration aims to build a highly skilled cadre of cyber commandos dedicated to defending India’s critical national infrastructure against increasingly sophisticated digital threats.
