Kulgam police arrest terrorist associate and recover hand grenades in joint operation

KULGAM, May 21, 2026 — In a major breakthrough under the ongoing war on terror, the Kulgam police, in a joint operation with the Army’s 34 Rashtriya Rifles and the 18 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force, arrested an overground worker at Mohammadpora village in Kulgam.

Security forces intercepted a suspicious individual during the operation, and a subsequent personal search led to the recovery of two hand grenades along with incriminating posters from his possession.

The arrested individual has been identified as Aadil Hussain Lone, the son of Mohd Sadiq Lone and a resident of Mohammadpora, Kulgam. Following his on-spot arrest, authorities registered a case under FIR number 88/2026 involving relevant sections of the law at the Kulgam police station.

A detailed investigation is currently underway, and security agencies expect further arrests and recoveries of explosive substances and incriminating materials as the probe progresses.
