Sakeena Itoo presides over renaming ceremony of Hapatnar school after martyr Adil Hussain Shah
ANANTNAG, May 20, 2026: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare, and Education, Sakeena Itoo presided over the renaming ceremony of Government High School Hapatnar as the Shaheed Adil Hussain Shah Memorial High School Hapatnar.
The event was attended by MLA Pahalgam Altaf Ahmad Wani, Director Social Welfare Kashmir, Director School Education Kashmir, Director Health Services Kashmir, senior district administration officers, local residents, and family members of the martyr.
Addressing the large gathering, the Minister paid rich tributes to Adil Hussain Shah, describing him as a national hero and stating that renaming the institution is a humble tribute to the courage, sacrifice, and patriotism he displayed.
She emphasized that the sacrifice of the brave son of the soil will never be forgotten and that the government remains fully committed to supporting his family in every possible manner.
During her address, Sakeena Itoo noted that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and former Chief Minister Dr. Farooq Abdullah had previously promised the family that the school would be renamed after the martyr, a commitment the current government has fulfilled within a year.
She highlighted that educational institutions play a vital role in shaping society and that this dedication would serve as a constant source of inspiration for local students and youth, whom she urged to work hard with discipline to contribute to nation-building.
The Minister reiterated the Omar Abdullah-led government’s focus on inclusive development, quality education, healthcare, and social welfare, particularly in rural and far-flung areas.
The ceremony also featured a short commemorative movie and lectures honoring the bravery and humane nature of Adil Hussain Shah, after which the Minister interacted with the school staff, students, and local residents to assure them that their public demands would be addressed.
