Jammu Police Seize Illegal Timber and Vehicles in Arnia
JAMMU, May 19 — Police personnel from the Arnia Police Station, operating under the supervision of the SP Headquarters Zone Jammu, intercepted three vehicles illegally transporting wooden logs during a routine patrol and checking operation in the Salehar area.
The intercepted vehicles included a tractor trolley driven by Mohd Hussain of Salehar Tehsil Bishnah, a truck operated by Naresh Kumar of Salalpur Kathua, and another tractor driven by Shokat Ali of Mai Chak. Upon inspection, none of the drivers could produce valid transit permits or official documentation from the department concerned, nor could they provide a satisfactory explanation for transporting the timber.
Following directions from the Tehsildar of R.S. Pura, the local Ilaqa Patwari inspected the site, and all three vehicles along with the seized wooden logs were shifted to the Arnia Police Station for further processing.
The local Forest Range Officer was subsequently notified to take custody of the detained vehicles and timber to initiate formal legal proceedings under the relevant provisions of the Forest Act.
Jammu Police stated that the operation reflects their ongoing commitment to curbing illegal activities and protecting the natural resources of the district.
