India Vietnam Defence Ties Strengthen With New AI Quantum Tech Deal
HANOI, May 19, 2026:- Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held a highly productive bilateral meeting with Vietnamese Defence Minister General Phan Van Giang in Hanoi on Tuesday to enhance strategic cooperation.
The two leaders reviewed the growing India-Vietnam defence partnership and discussed expanding collaboration across several critical sectors, including maritime security, the defence industry, training, and regional stability.
Singh emphasized that New Delhi remains deeply committed to strengthening its Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Vietnam to ensure peace and security in the region.As a practical manifestation of this growing partnership, the two ministers jointly inaugurated a newly established Language Lab at the Air Force Officers College in Vietnam.
The facility is expected to boost training capabilities and facilitate closer institutional interactions between the armed forces of both nations.
In a significant technological leap for bilateral ties, India and Vietnam also exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding in the fields of artificial intelligence and quantum technology.
Singh described the agreement as another milestone step forward in the strategic alignment between the two countries, opening up new avenues for joint research and technological development in advanced defence applications.
