Jammu Rural Police books habitual criminal under Public Safety Act
JAMMU, MAY 18 — In a major crackdown against criminal elements, Jammu Rural Police booked a hardcore criminal under the provisions of the Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety Act for his repeated involvement in violent criminal activities and subsequently lodged him in District Jail Bhaderwah.
The accused, Vikash Singh alias Vinay, a resident of Bomal in the Akhnoor area of Jammu district, was found to be continuously involved in offences posing a serious threat to public peace and order. He has a history of multiple criminal cases registered at Police Station Akhnoor, including offences related to assault, intimidation, rioting, and violations under the Arms Act.
Despite repeated legal action, the accused continued his criminal activities, creating fear and insecurity among the local public. In view of his persistent involvement in heinous offences, Jammu Rural Police prepared and submitted a detailed dossier to the District Magistrate Jammu to seek his detention under the law.
Following the formal execution of the detention orders issued by the District Magistrate Jammu, the accused was successfully detained under the Public Safety Act and shifted to jail.
The Jammu Rural Police reiterated its firm commitment toward maintaining public order and taking strict action against habitual offenders and anti-social elements.
