Jammu gears up for summer pilgrimages and Eid with extensive administrative review
JAMMU, MAY 18 — Advisor to the Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani, chaired a high-level meeting with senior officials to evaluate summer readiness, upcoming pilgrimage arrangements, essential commodity stocks, and preparations for Eid-ul-Adha across the Jammu division.
The meeting saw attendance from top regional officials, including Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar, IGP Jammu Bhimsen Tuti, DIG Traffic Jammu and Kashmir Dr Haseeb Mughal, Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation Devansh Yadav, Managing Director JPDCL Gurpal Singh, and Deputy Commissioner Jammu Rakesh Minhas, along with various departmental heads.
During the session, the Divisional Commissioner briefed the chair on summer public service measures and key ongoing infrastructure projects, such as roads, highways, and bridges, designed to enhance regional connectivity.Assessing logistics amid global supply concerns, officials confirmed that Jammu division holds sufficient buffer stocks of food grains and fuel to prevent any disruptions during the peak season.
Comprehensive preparations are actively underway for the smooth conduct of the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, Machail Mata Yatra, and Budha Amarnath Yatra, with specific focus on reinforcing road connectivity, sanitation, healthcare, and emergency response systems ahead of the monsoon.
Regarding power infrastructure, the Managing Director of JPDCL outlined advance maintenance strategies for transformers and distribution networks to ensure stable electricity throughout the hot summer months. Festival preparations for Eid-ul-Adha were also finalized, with plans to deploy specialized market checking teams to actively combat hoarding, black marketing, and profiteering.
Security and transit logistics were a major focus, as the IGP Jammu and DIG Traffic J&K outlined comprehensive security frameworks and traffic regulation plans to handle the influx of pilgrims and local festival crowds.
Concluding the meet, Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani issued strict directives to the Power Development and Jal Shakti departments to guarantee uninterrupted utilities, calling for round-the-clock grievance cells and rapid water tanker deployment.
The Health Department was instructed to equip medical centers for heat-related illnesses and position mobile units along yatra routes, while the traffic and transport wings were told to strictly manage vulnerable highway stretches.
Emphasizing the necessity of seamless inter-departmental coordination, the Advisor noted that real-time monitoring and prompt public grievance resolution remain vital to ensuring public convenience throughout the festive and pilgrimage calendar.
