if Pakistan continues to harbor terrorists and operate against India, it will have to decide whether it wants to be part of geography or history says Army Chief
DELHI, May 17, 2026 :- Army Chief Gen Upendra Dwivedi delivered a stern military warning to Islamabad, stating that if Pakistan continues to harbor terrorists and operate against India, it will have to decide whether it wants to be part of geography or history.
His remarks came during an interactive session hosted by Uniform Unveiled at the Sena Samwad event held at the Manekshaw Centre. The brief but blunt message strongly reiterated India’s uncompromising stance against cross-border terrorism.
The statement was made in response to a question about how the Indian Army would react if circumstances similar to last year’s Operation Sindoor arose again.
The country recently marked the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, which was launched early on May 7 last year following a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam.
The operation involved precision strikes by Indian forces on multiple terror infrastructures across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, leading to an 88-hour military conflict that eventually halted after both nations reached an understanding.
Addressing the evolving nature of modern warfare, Gen Dwivedi explained that the traditional domains of land, maritime, and air are expanding to include cyber, space, and cognitive dimensions. He noted that the Indian Army simultaneously manages five generations of warfare, ranging from traditional trench and artillery tactics to hybrid warfare, artificial intelligence, and quantum technology.
He concluded that future warfare will be increasingly challenging, requiring modern soldiers to master the practical application of these advanced technologies.
