J&K Transport Commissioner Directs Major Enforcement Drive to Enhance Road Safety
JAMMU, APRIL 13: Transport Commissioner of Jammu & Kashmir, Vishesh Mahajan, chaired a high-level review meeting today to outline a strategic roadmap for strengthening road safety and administrative efficiency across the Union Territory.
During the session, the Commissioner issued strict directives to Regional Transport Officers (RTOs) and Assistant Regional Transport Officers (ARTOs) to intensify enforcement drives against traffic offenders.
He emphasized that the department must adopt a zero-tolerance policy toward traffic violations, mandating the suspension of Driving Licenses and Registration Certificates (RCs) for habitual offenders as per the established legal provisions to ensure higher accountability on the roads.
Beyond enforcement, the meeting focused heavily on improving the quality of public service delivery to make transport offices more transparent and citizen-friendly.
Commissioner Mahajan underscored the importance of the effective implementation of the PM RAAHAT scheme and insisted on the timely disbursement of financial relief through the road safety victim fund to support those affected by accidents.
By streamlining these processes and curbing violations, the department aims to create a safer and more responsive transport ecosystem for the residents of Jammu & Kashmir.
