Nasha Mukt Udhampur: 3-Day Awareness Drive Concludes with Mega Padyatra
UDHAMPUR, APRIL 10: The three-day divisional-level awareness initiative reached its successful finale today as the District Administration Udhampur, partnering with the School Education Department, organized a massive padyatra to champion the Nasha Mukt Udhampur Abhiyan.
Shouting the clarion call of “Say No to Drugs, Yes to Life,” the march was officially flagged off from Domail Chowk by Deputy Commissioner Minga Sherpa. The event saw participation from key officials, including Additional Deputy Commissioner Prem Singh, Joint Director School Education (Udhampur–Reasi) Dr. Jagdish Chander Mehra, and Chief Education Officer Subash Gupta.
During a media briefing, Deputy Commissioner Minga Sherpa stated that the three-day program served as a comprehensive platform to sensitize students and local stakeholders on critical social issues, ranging from road safety and environmental protection to mental health and career counseling.
He underscored that the primary goal of the padyatra was to foster a grassroots movement against substance abuse, asserting that education remains the most formidable weapon in eradicating the drug menace.
The rally, which saw participation from students and staff, wound through major landmarks including Dhar Road, Slathia Chowk, and Gole Market, before concluding at the Government Boys Higher Secondary School.
